Fashion Passion

This month marks Sydney Is Fashion – the time when the top designers, models and fashion bloggers come to the city to find out what’s in and what’s out.

Whether you enjoy dressing up, dressing down or following the latest trends, there’s something for everyone during the month of September. If you’re like me and love a bargain, you’re also in luck because lots of stores are holding special sales and discount days, so it’s the perfect time to start adding to your spring and summer wardrobe.

The most talked about event will surely be the annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival which will run from 24 September, where the top Australian fashion designers will be showcased on the runway at Sydney’s Town Hall. If you can’t make it, follow all the action on the Festival’s Facebook Page.

There’s also a really cool Re-Fashion event happening so that you can get advice on how to mend or up-cycle a pre-loved piece of clothing. It’s proven to be very popular, so there’s a waitlist but why not put your name down!

If you’re in the chic Surry Hills area, why not try out the FREE Urban Walkabout Food Tour in the area on Saturday – the perfect addition to a day of browsing or shopping.

The city centre shopping district of Pitt Street will be buzzing with shoppers trying to pick out the latest key accessories and fashion pieces. Westfield Sydney is hosting a fashion event this weekend, but even better, why not enter the competition to win a $1,000 gift card to spend on a new spring wardrobe!

We know that lots of SIBT students are trend setters on campus and enjoy experimenting with lots of different looks. One student in particular, Mia Tran, loves fashion and make up, and has given us some top make up tips which are easily done at home! Mia has her own blog which you can check out at Some other SIBT students also went on a fashion tour of the city centre and picked out their top looks for Spring.

So whatever style you’re into, make sure to get involved and check out Sydney’s fashion scene!
